UConn Extends Men's Basketball Coach Dan Hurley's Contract to 2029

Six-Year Extension Worth $315 Million

New Deal Makes Hurley Among Highest-Paid Coaches in Men's Basketball

UConn has announced a six-year, $315 million contract extension for men's basketball coach Dan Hurley. The extension, which runs through the 2028-29 season, makes Hurley one of the highest-paid coaches in men's basketball.

Hurley, who led UConn to its first national championship since 2014 this past season, is now guaranteed nearly $33 million over the next six years. The contract also includes incentives that could push his compensation even higher.

"We are thrilled to extend Dan Hurley's contract," UConn athletic director David Benedict said. "He has done an incredible job in leading our program back to national prominence, and we are confident that he will continue to be successful for many years to come."

Hurley said he was "honored and humbled" to receive the contract extension.

"I love UConn, and I am committed to winning championships here," Hurley said. "I want to thank President Katsouleas and Athletic Director Benedict for their belief in me and our program."

Hurley is 98-58 in four seasons at UConn. He has led the Huskies to two NCAA Tournament appearances, including a national championship in 2023.
